The Ricky Rod Law Group Sponsors Live Script Reading of Popcorn Prophets

EDINBURG, Texas —  The Popcorn Prophets team is proud to announce that The Ricky Rod Law Group, founded by Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez Jr., has joined as an official sponsor of the upcoming live script reading of Popcorn Prophets, taking place October 15, 2025, at The Citrus Live in Edinburg.

Attorney Ricardo “Ricky Rod” Rodriguez Jr. knows firsthand the power of perseverance. Raised in a working-class family in South Texas, he built his career through hard work and a deep commitment to helping others. From his time as a District Court Judge and Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney to his work today leading The Ricky Rod Law Group, he has dedicated his life to standing up for people who deserve a fair chance and a better future — values that echo throughout the Popcorn Prophets story.

Popcorn Prophets, written by Edinburg native Reynaldo Leal and directed by Nate Boyer, is a feature film that reflects the resilience and hope found in everyday people who, like Rodriguez, have worked to create a better life for themselves.  

“Mr. Rodriguez understands the power of storytelling and the impact it can have when it reflects the truth of our community,” said Leal. “Popcorn Prophets is about perseverance, hope, and the search for connection, and having The Ricky Rod Law Group’s support means so much to us.”

The live script reading will feature professional actors, including Rio Grande Valley natives Dannie McCallum and David Barrera, and marks an important step as the production moves toward filming in 2026.
